Portraits & Art
by Peter Bøgelund
DRAWINGS
Drawings give a lighter expression than a painting. I do all my drawings with pencil on canvas, which is a more "imperfect" surface than e.g. paper. But all my paintings start as a drawing on canvas, so I gain flexibility in terms of whether the portrait should "just" be a drawing, or whether it should be a monochrome or fully colored portrait.
A painted portrait can therefore always be supplemented with a print of the basic drawing.
MONOCHROME PAINTINGS
Monochrome paintings are single colour paintings in e.g. brown, blue or black/grey shades. They are reminiscent of old-fashioned photographs and give a more nuanced expression than a line drawing, but at the same time a more subdued expression than a fully colored painting.

Spades’ and heart’s boy are often interpreted as two different personalities. Spades’ boy is the more cold and cynical, while heart’s boy is more likeable and warm.
I try to be a heart boy.

ABOUT PETER BØGELUND & COMMISSIONING
ENGLISH:
Introduction...
I am a portrait painter, who prefers a naturalistic approach to my motives. Therefore, I value likeness in my portraits very highly - and a traditional style.
It varies from one individual to the other whether you like seeing pictures of yourself. Therefore, a portrait is often commissioned by other people close to the portraitee than by the portraitee.
A great gift...
A painted portrait makes a splendid birthday present or anniversary gift. And it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
If you would like to order af portrait from me, the process is as follows:
You send an electronic version of a photo in as high a resolution as possible. I prefer to meet the portraitee, if possible - as photos may not always provide the full picture.
I make a detailed drawing, before I proceed with the actual painting.
You may also settle for a drawing as the final result.
You are welcome to follow the drawing and painting process by visiting the gallery or by having photos sent during the process.
Delivery time is approx. 2-4 weeks
I make both pencil drawings and paint in acrylics on canvas - in both large and small canvas sizes.
The price depends on size, composition and process.
You can also order reproductions of existing paintings as e.g. posters, post cards or canvas prints.
Please contact me to discuss the options.
NEWS & EXHIBITIONS
DONATION TO THE CARE CENTER ENGGÅRDEN
IN DRAGØR
Within the last year, I have donated over 30 original portraits of royals and celebrities to the local nursing home, Enggården, in Dragør. The idea for the donation arose because the staff at Enggården said that the residents are happy to be able to recognize people in pictures that hang on the walls. I am therefore happy to be able to recall good memories with the elderly with my portraits.
The photos show center manager Ole and the undersigned with a few examples of the donated portraits.
UPDATED EXHIBITION AT BEGHUSET IN DRAGØR
I continuously update my exhibition at Beghuset in Dragør.
The latest update contains 34 portraits.
There are both drawings, monochrome (single-coloured) and full-colour portraits in large and small sizes.
The pictures hang at the entrance and on the 1st floor and can be seen during the restaurant's opening hours.
Once again, thanks to Linea and Lars for letting me borrow the fine premises for my exhibition.
EXHIBITION IN VORBASSE LEISURE CENTER
I was born and raised near Vorbasse and was allowed to exhibit my portraits in Vorbasse Leisure Centre.
The exhibition was located in the centre's entrance area during the period April-July 2024.
There was a wide selection of over 40 paintings and drawings in both large and small formats. Blue. I had painted and temporarily borrowed a portrait of the Speaker of the Danish Parliament. chairman, Henrik Dam Kristensen, who also comes from Vorbasse.
OFFICIAL PORTRAITS
On June 19, 2023, I presented two official mayoral portraits that I have painted for the municipality of Trelleborg in Sweden. The paintings are now linked to former mayor portraits at the old town hall in Trelleborg.
The municipality has a long-standing tradition of having official portraits painted for hanging in the town hall of two elected "mayors" with the titles "kommunfullmäktiges ordförande" and "municipal board's ordförande". The last two were respectively Håkan Sjöberg and Mikael Rubin.
It is good to experience cooperation and cultural exchange across the Øresund.
SUPPORT UKRAINE
PORTRAIT EXHIBITION AND
NON-PROFIT FUNDRAISING FOR UKRAINE
In the autumn holidays - 14.-22. October 2023 - I invited to a portrait exhibition with over 100 of my portraits in the old shipyard hall at the port in Dragør.
The exhibition was dedicated 100% to support the humanitarian work in Ukraine. All the exhibited portraits could thus be acquired by donating an amount which went uncut to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian ambassador, Vydoinyk Mykhailo supported my exhibition and collection and he thanked for the help it generated.
I also donated a Zelenskyj portrait - along with additional posters from the exhibition - to the humanitarian organization BEVAR UKRAINE, which was handed over to co-founder Andrii Kuzmyn.
There were 1250 visitors during the autumn holidays - and many fine donations were made.
The total collection amount ended up being DKK 30,000, which was distributed among four humanitarian organisations.
Thank you to everyone who supported my fundraiser for Ukraine.
HAPPY RECEIVERS
One of the greatest pleasures of painting portraits is, of course, handing over the portrait to a happy receiver - e.g.:

Title: OUTLOOK / INSIGHT
Dragør's mayor Kenneth Gøtterup needs both outlook and insight to deal with local and global challenges such as school, health, elderly care, pandemic, refugees, energy supply etc.

PORTRAIT LIKENESS
CLICK ON THE PICTURE OR THE LINK TO WATCH A VIDEO WITH THE LIKENESS BETWEEN A PHOTO AND THE PAINTED PORTRAIT
Taste differs when it comes to portraiture and "artistic freedom".
I myself prefer a great similarity between, for example, a photo presentation and the painting. However, you should still be able to see a difference - e.g. in relation to colours, mood and facial expressions.
PRESS & MEDIA
AmagerLIV - København - wrote a long article about me and my portrait paintings in the autumn of 2023.
I was chosen to participate in a series of articles in the magazine FAMILIE JOURNALEN where more then 300,000 readers got the opportunity to read about my life, which - so far - has resulted in becoming a portrait painter in Dragør.
